Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Fun in the sun only steps from your door! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
