Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your group agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Coastal Cabaña B \"AT THE BEACH\" has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
