Booking the best Morehead City vacation property experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Book your Morehead City vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront high rise condo, centrally located in Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
