Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Charming studio condo with wifi, pool, cable - just steps from the ocean! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
