Our top Atlantic Beach rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Morehead City area. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking your prefectrental:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beachfront home base with ocean-view balcony, 2 pools, waterslide & beach access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
