Tips and Tricks to get the best Morehead City rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Finding the best vacation home in Beaufort:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Why Knot Getaway…Rooftop with WaterView! Unit F has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
