Rental home tips:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Morehead City area. To find the best rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your group choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Traigh Point: Oceanview and Soundview, 4BR, 3.5BA, Elevator! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
