Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Morehead City restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best rental home:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Tip'Sea Turtle, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
