Emerald Isle rental property booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Morehead City area. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the best rental home in the Morehead City area:

  • Start by having your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Tip'Sea Turtle, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
