Strategies to get the best Morehead City vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking yourvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Sweetwater, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
