Tricks and tips to get the best Morehead City rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Morehead City area. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose yourvacation home:

  • Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Southwinds C14 Located in an Oceanfront Complex with Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
