Strategies to get the perfect Emerald Isle rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Morehead City restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best vacation rental:

  • First, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. SINGLE Family Ocean Front - Howard's Hideaway has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. message the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
