Finding the best vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking your prefectrental home:

  • To start, have your group decide on trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Redone Luxury Waterfront at The Point w\/ Heated Pool, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Game Rm has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
