How to find the best vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Pine Knoll Shores rental home:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Reserve your Morehead City rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Clean, affordable, and a short walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
