Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.

How to pick the best rental home in New Bern:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City attraction you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
