Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Morehead City vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 3 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, email the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
