Morehead City rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Morehead City vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 2 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City destination you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
