Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Morehead City area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Listen to the waves! View from 2 levels! Gorgeous sandy beach! 2 pools! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
