Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Lighthouse Cottage DOG FRIENDLY -Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is right for your group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
