Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Morehead City vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing and booking the best Morehead City vacation home:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Islands and Inlets - the best views on the Crystal Coast! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
