The Front Porch on Ann Street

Our calendar is refreshed in real-time & our nightly prices are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

With more than a century of seafaring history woven into its walls, The Front Porch on Ann Street is full of the timeless ambiance of striking downtown Beaufort. It's a place for handsome days of exploring and balmy afternoons spent rocking on the front porch, watching the neighborhood pass you by.

One of the excellent features of this home is its storied history, dating back to Captain Jack Parkins and his wife, Emily, who moved the home - by barge - from Adam's Creek to its present location after marrying in 1902. In the century since the home rolled on logs across Front Street, it has remained in the Parkins-Lewis family as Beaufort has grown up around it. The heart of town is half a mile west, home to an array of eateries and stores, the Island Express Ferry Service, and the North Carolina Maritime Museum.

Sunlight seems to find every corner of the home, thanks to generous windows that line both floors. Linger on the porch swing or the rocking chairs out front, fire up the gas grille, or step inside to either the living room or family room to bask in the comfort of central air conditioning.

Prepare family meals in the well-equipped kitchen, sit down for dinner in the formal dining room, and bring coffee and dessert to the yard out back to savor in the shade of mature trees. In the evenings, take a sunset bicycle ride, watch movies on the TV, log onto the WiFi to catch up on e-mail at one of multiple desk workspaces, and get a sound nighttime's sleep in the four inviting bedrooms upstairs.

Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Morehead City vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Historic downtown home with porch, backyard & prime location - dog-friendly has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
