Strategies to get the best Morehead City vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the best rental:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Keystone West West - Emerald Isle Paradise has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
