Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful 2 story house on canal within walking distance to beach access. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City destination you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
