Tricks and tips to get the best Morehead City vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Summer is high season in Atlantic Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing and booking a perfectrental home:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. April's Retreat Oceanfront condo in Atlantic Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a specific Morehead City attraction you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
