How to get the best rental home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in New Bern. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Morehead City restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing and booking the right Morehead City vacation home:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. The Bearplex of New Bern featuring king-size bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
