Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer is high season in the Morehead City area. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking your prefectrental:

  • First, have your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sea Salt - Classic Atlantic Beach home - perfect vacation location! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
