Tips to get the optimal Morehead City vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in the Morehead City area. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Morehead City attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Redecorated, Oceanfront, Corner Condo with Balcony & Shared Hot Tub\/Pools has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
