Strategies for getting the perfect vacation home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. To get the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Point Emerald A-301, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
