Our top Rental home booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Papa Jim's Front Porch-Oceanview Condo, Community Pool, 2 min walk to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, email the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
