Rental booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Morehead City rental home & When to go:

  • Summer time is high season in Atlantic Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Morehead City vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Sands Condo - Steps Away to a Private Beach - Linens Included has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
