Tips and Tricks for getting the best Atlantic Beach vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Morehead City attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing yourrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. OCEAN FRONT UNIT WITH GREAT OCEAN VIEW! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
