Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Planning and choosing the perfectrental home:

  • First, have your group decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 5BR, Ocean Front, 1\/2 Duplex! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
