Strategies to get the best Morehead City vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Booking your Morehead City vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Four bedroom home and short walk to the beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
