Tips to get the very best vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in New Bern. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental home in New Bern:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Fairfield Harbour resort with WI-FI and Recreation Center membership included has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
