How to get the best Morehead City vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful 1st-floor condo with washer\/dryer & pools\/hot tub\/putt-putt access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Advice for a great stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
