Tips and Tricks to get the best Morehead City rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beachy Keen, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City beach you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
