How to get the best Morehead City vacation rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Morehead City restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4BR Home at the Point! 2nd Row from beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Morehead City attraction you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
