Tips for getting the perfect Morehead City vacation property experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. A Herd Of Turtles, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
